Default Morality:Godly or Ghastly?

What is morality?
Aside from what it appears to be, is it something you feel naturally compelling? or does it rather seem to bind the many desires that nature would seem to have imbued you with?

Is it religion alone that started the morality 'movement', or was it social evolution?
Is it necessary, and in a time of over-population and ever-increasing competition for goods, is morality feasible?

Look honestly into your own desires and tell me wether your morality is often a farce, only an imitation of the real thing, to please others or done out of fear of the consequences of 'immoral action'?

That's a start, but we've only scratched the surface.
